One workspace, built by a team tired of switching tabs
Hubcove started in 2023 as an internal tool for a five-person remote team that was done juggling a file drive, a sync client and a calling app that never agreed with each other. It's now the daily workspace for thousands of teams.
How we got here
The first version of Hubcove was a single Node process syncing a shared folder for our own team. We open-sourced pieces of it, teams kept asking for the whole thing, and by early 2024 we turned it into a product. The core idea hasn't changed since: files, sync and calls belong in one login, not three.
We're still a remote-first team spread across a handful of time zones. No office, no fixed hours — just a shared bar for what we ship and how fast we respond when something breaks.
What we care about
Boring on purpose
Sync should be invisible. We spend most of our engineering time making Hubcove predictable, not flashy.
Own your data
Export everything, anytime, in open formats. No lock-in games — if you leave, you leave with everything intact.
Small team, wide scope
We stay a small, senior team on purpose. Fewer meetings, faster fixes, direct access to the people who build the product.
Privacy by default
We collect the minimum needed to run the service and nothing more. No ad trackers, no data resale, ever.
Where we're headed
Near-term roadmap: better offline conflict resolution, a proper mobile app, and deeper permission controls for larger teams. Longer-term, we want Hubcove to be the default answer to "where does the team keep its stuff" — without turning into the bloated suite we built this to replace.
